If the Illustrator file was placed in another document, such as QuarkXPress or InDesign, see their respective guidelines.

Full colour printing uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks to create a full spectrum of colour. Save all photos and images as CMYK and convert all Pantone colour's to CMYK. If you are unable to do this, let us know when placing the order.

Ensure bleeds are added, and images are the correct resolution.

PDF Instructions

Docuprint is continually exploring new technologies to continue to be Newton's top choice for printing. We have adopted a full PDF workflow in our pre press, digital document center, and press room. Experience has shown that a PDF workflow helps to ensure error-free documents while maximizing quality and efficiency.

Every customer-supplied Illustrator document is converted to PDF by our pre press technicians using Illustrator's powerful built-in PDF engine. If you wish to complete this step yourself, follow the Supplying a PDF from Adobe Illustrator instructions. If your document has bleeds, it is imperative to create your PDF file with crop marks and bleeds enabled.

Illustrator Instructions

If your entire document was created in Illustrator, supply the following:

Sub setting of fonts should be set to 100%
Under Options, select Create PDF Compatible File and Use Compression

All links imported into the Illustrator file, including embedded images. This will aid in troubleshooting and/or colour correction.
All fonts used within the document, or convert all type to outlines. Note that outlining a font can affect the quality of the type, and should not be used on small point sizes. It will also eliminate the ability to make type changes.
A PDF or hard-copy sample is recommended but not required.
