Creating a PostScript file (Mac)

If your application is not directly supported by Docuprint, or you were instructed to create a PostScript file, follow the directions below.

Part 1: Adding a Virtual Postscript printer

*this is a one-time operation
  1. Open your system preferences

    • Select Print & Fax
  2. Select Setup printers. The following window will appear:
  3. Select Add. The following menu will appear:

    • In the first pull down menu select IP Printing
    • Under Printer Type, choose LPD/LPR
    • Under Printer Address type localhost
    • Next to Queue Name type Postscript_Printer
    • Under Printer Model choose Apple
    • Under Model Name select Apple Color LaserWriter 12/600 PS v2014.108
    • click Add
  4. The printer will now be added to your printer list

Part 2: Printing a postscript file from your application

  1. Open your document and select Print from the File pull down menu

    • Select Postscript Printer on localhost as your printer
    • Select Output Options
    • Turn on Save as File
    • Change the format to Postscript
    • Select Save
  2. Navigate to the folder in which your PostScript file will be created. Be sure you know where this folder is located because you will need to navigate to it when uploading the file or burning a CD.
  3. Click Save
